The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine has received Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA to provide a two-dose primary series to individuals 5 through 11 years of age. The CDC endorses the use of this vaccine because while COVID-19 tends to be milder in children compared with adults, it can make children very sick and cause children to be hospitalized. In some situations, the complications from infection or can spread to a high risk friend or family member

Vaccinating children can help protect family members, including siblings who are not eligible for vaccination and family members who may be at increased risk of getting very sick if they are infected.

This is a 2-dose primary series, it is unclear at this time if a booster will be needed in children under 12 years of age.

The 2nd dose is available 21 days or longer after the initial dose. It is recommended to get the 2nd dose as soon as possible after that 21 day period (21-42 days).

If your child has a history of vaccine induced anxiety (screaming, hitting, fainting, etc), please let us know! We typically conduct vaccines in the patients car, but under these circumstances we will invite you into the facility. We have a clean and inviting patient area where we can conduct the appointment. We use proven techniques such as storytelling, music, games, discussing the patient interests, breathing techniques, validation of child’s feelings and concerns, etc.

According to research, this vaccine cannot give the patient a COVID-19 infection. If a positive COVID-19 test occurs after the vaccine is administered, it is due to exposure and considered a legitimate COVID-19 infection.

Yes! We are able to accept any insurance for COVID-19 related services and can guarantee that you will not receive any surprise bills.

There is $0 patient cost associated with receiving this vaccine! The federal government is providing all COVID-19 vaccine doses free of charge, and insurance or the CARES act will cover the vaccine administration in full.

We require patients to stay on site for a minimum of 15 minutes for monitoring, and up to 30 minutes depending upon health history and contraindications.

Ages 5-11 qualify for the pediatric vaccine, ages 12 and older will receive the “adult” vaccine.

Yes! Although our facility only offers COVID-19 vaccination, the FDA and CDC says that other vaccines can be administered the same day.

It is not recommended you give pain relievers before vaccination to try to prevent side effects.

On the arm where your child got the shot; Pain, redness, swelling. Throughout the rest of their body; Tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, fever, nausea. These side effects may affect your child’s ability to do daily activities, but they should go away in a few days. Some people have no side effects and severe allergic reactions are rare.

According the the FDA and CDC, If your child has had a severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of this vaccine or has had a severe allergic reaction to any ingredient of this vaccine they should not receive this vaccine.

Per guidance from the FDA and DSHS – In this specific scenario the child will receive the pediatric vaccine for the 1st dose at age 11, and then will receive an “adult” dose for their 2nd dose at age 12.

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine will be given to your child as an injection into the muscle. Please have the child wear a loose fitting short sleeved shirt as the preferred injection site is the upper arm.
